Stress Urinary Incontinence – IncontiLase®

Stress urinary incontinence is leakage of urine that occurs with coughing, sneezing, running and jumping, usually as a result of childbirth.

IncontiLase® is an innovative and unique, non-invasive Er:YAG laser therapy for incontinence. It works by heating the tissue of the anterior vaginal wall to approximately 62 degrees inducing collagen production and tightening of the tissues providing extra support under the bladder. Results are usually noticed after the first treatment. A major advantage of IncontiLase® is that the procedure is incisionless and virtually painless, with no ablation, cutting, bleeding, or sutures. Recovery is extremely quick without the need for anaethetics, painkillers or antibiotics.

Usually, two sessions are recommended to alleviate mild or even moderate stress urinary incontinence. No special pre-op preparation or post-op precautions are necessary. Patients can immediately return to their normal everyday activities.  It is an efficient, easy-to-perform and safe procedure.

An appointment with Dr Wise is required prior to treatment for a full gynaecological assessment. It can be helpful to bring any test results such as an up to date cervical screening test with you. If this has not been done it can be done during the assessment appointment. The treatment takes approximately 30minutes to perform and is a walk-in, walk-out procedure.
